BNA - Bateman Neighborhood Association

Introductions

The Bateman Neighborhood is located in Southeast Berkeley between Asbhy and Wooley and Telegraph and College Avenue.

The Bateman Neighborhood Association (BNA) was formed in the late 1960's to respond to the expansion of Alta Bates Medical Center (ABMC); since then BNA has consistently sought to limit the impact of hospital activities on our neighborhood. See the brief chronology for a summary of our activities since 1971. We also work on many other neighborhood activities including traffic circulation, permit parking, undergrounding of utilities, earthquake preparedness, and the maintenance of a network of block captains.

The Inter-neighborhood Hospital Review Committee (IHRC) was formed in 1997 to represent the three neighborhoods immediately surrounding the hospital: Bateman, Willard, and Fairview Park. Look at the map - the "Benefitted Estate" - of the three neighborhoods to see its boundaries.
